The current service is known as the Venice Simplon Orient–Express. It is essentially a tourist service, run by a company called Belmond Ltd, which is based in London but was founded by the American businessman James Sherwood.
The service runs once or twice a week, from March to October. Passengers travel from London on Belmond's British Pullman train, then by coach through the Channel Tunnel on the Eurotunnel Shuttle, and board the Venice–bound train at Calais. The one–way journey takes approximately 32 hours and was priced (in March 2018) at £3,100 per passenger (£2,450 for the return journey).
